Hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, Barbara Kristine Kruta is a professional cellist,
orchestrator, and music producer now living in Brooklyn, New York.
Both a committed studio artist and performer, Kristine has contributed to countless albums, film scores, and live performances since her arrival to New England in 2008. These include national broadcasts for OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, America’s Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, T-Mobile, GE, Switched at Birth, Jane by Design, MTV’s Top 100 Music Videos, soundtracks for Sundance Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival, First Run Film Festival, Woodstock Film Festival, and Brooklyn Film Fest, along with several independent and commercial recording artists and producers including Emmy award-winning hip-hop violinist Damien Escobar, Glassnote Records artist OBERHOFER, Grammy-nominated producer and engineer J Chris Griffin, Sugar Hill Records' The Sugarhill Gang, and more.
As a producer and orchestrator, Kristine has co-created Little Kruta - a multi-genre orchestra for contracting and recording. Little Kruta has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with Common, BJ The Chicago Kid, De La Soul, Estelle, and Aminé; Late Night with Seth Meyer with Yuna and K.Flay, and Saturday Night Live with Shawn Mendes. Little Kruta also works to provide free orchestrations and orchestral recordings for artists who cannot otherwise afford such. Using crowd-funding platform PATREON, Little Kruta pays each musician and engineer, so the artist gets an entire orchestra or strings or brass (whatever their choosing) for free. Join the movement at patreon.com/littlekruta.
As a solo cellist, Kristine has served with the cast of Aladdin for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids Gypsy of the Year, as well as in both the Off-Broadway production and cast recording of Stars of David and the Off-Broadway production and cast recording of The Actual Dance, Corey Mach's Broadway Sings showcases, Broadway Sings Andrew McMahon, and Eli Zoller's O Pioneer Band. She has written, arranged, and recorded music for Milan, Italy's Fashion Week and worked as co-creative director for critically-acclaimed hiphop/RnB violinist Damien Escobar's new album "Boundless." Her original music and recordings were heard on the Black Women in Hollywood 2016 Essence Awards, hosted by
OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.
